Messier

The greatest leader in hockey can't help but marvel at the Oilers.
Mark Messier spoke on
630 CHED's Oilers Now
Thursday. The Moose touched on the 2016-17 Oilers and offered his thoughts.

"I think you are what your record says you are, that's what Bill Parcells says," said Messier. "The Oilers are definitely playing well. I think it starts in goal. (Cam) Talbot has come in there and played as well as everybody had hoped and expected."
The six-time Stanley Cup champion also offered his two cents on the blueline.
"The trade for (Adam) Larsson has cemented the defence," he said. "You put (Oscar) Klefbom back in there and (Kris) Russell's been a great addition with his experience. So, those three guys that weren't there last year cemented the defence and as we all know, without a good defence in today's game, it's impossible to win."
The former Oilers captain also remarked on the Oilers current commander, Connor McDavid.
"McDavid has proven to be everything advertised. He's leading the team in every way, on and off the ice. He's galvanizing the players and his competitiveness has rubbed off on the guys that have been there the last few years that haven't had success and they've followed in his footsteps.
"All the recipe for success is right there for the Oilers."
