OVERTIME

0.5: With literal tenths of a second left, the Avalanche win it. Nathan MacKinnon sends a back-door pass to Artturi Lehkonen, who finishes this terrific game off with less than a second on the clock to secure the extra point for the Avalanche in a 3-2 victory. Sean Walker scores twice for the Avs, who trailed 2-1 with just over five minutes remaining. The Oilers will now host the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday at Rogers Place.

2:14: MacKinnon has a partial breakaway go high and wide before Skinner stops his follow-up shot on the next sequence. This is as tight as it gets.

5:00: Overtime has begun!

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: We are going to overtime, tied 2-2 after regulation.

19.3: The Oilers nearly take a delay of game penalty late in regulation, but after the officials come together at the benches, it's deemed to have deflected over the glass. That's fortunate for the Oilers late in this one.

5:20: Avalanche answer back. Sean Walker scores his second of the game after being left open on the left side for Casey Mittelstadt to pick him out with a pass that he puts away to make it 2-2.

8:12: CARRICK SCORES! WHAT AN EFFORT! Mattias Janmark puts a shot on goal that's knocked down by the centre, who then turns around and smacks his first goal as an Oiler over the left pad of Georgiev to give Edmonton the 2-1 lead. With a kick on the puck despite having no stick, Corey Perry gets the second assist and his 900th career point. With over eight minutes left, the Oilers lead this game.

8:29: Georgiev makes an awkward blocker save on Bouchard, who was wide open in the slot.

14:14: FOEGELE FINDS THE DEFLECTION! After the winger knocked it down at the blueline and had his first shot stopped by Georgiev, it comes back up to the blueline where Evan Bouchard puts it back on net for Foegele to put a backwards tip on the shot that goes in over the glove of the Colorado netminder. It's 1-1 with just over 14 minutes left in regulation.

Foegele redirects a Bouchard point shot to tie the game at 1-1

17:55: No goal for Zach Hyman. We've seen a few of those this season. Darnell Nurse's point shot is deflected between the circles by Draisaitl, leading to a mad scramble for a loose puck in front that's kicked in by the skate of Hyman. It originally stood as a goal, but the Avalanche bench challenges the play for a kick and it's overturned after the the review by the officials.

11:12: MacKinnon makes a terrific outside move before firing a sneaky backhand on Skinner, but the Oilers netminder presses his body against the right post to keep it out.

13:21: Excellent hockey being played here as Josh Manson breaks up an Oilers two-on-one before Warren Foegele gets a wide-open look to the right of Georgiev's goal after Draisaitl set him up with a no-look backhand pass.

15:33: Nugent-Hopkins is denied in close by Georgiev twice after McDavid made an exceptional pass out front from the right corner.

15:47: Penalty shot to the Avalanche after Jonathan Drouin is hooked by Brett Kulak. The winger comes in and shifts to his backhand, but SKINNER SQUEEZES IT SHUT! It nearly trickled through, but the quick shut of the space by Skinner between his arm and torso keeps it from rolling into the net.
