LAS VEGAS, NV - Goaltender Marc-André Fleury denied all 29 shots on goal the Oilers could generate Wednesday in Edmonton's 3-0 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena.
Mikko Koskinen stopped 30 of 33 pucks - including 16 in the second period - conceding goals to Max Pacioretty, Nick Cousins and Shea Theodore.
Newly-acquired forward Andreas Athanasiou left the game due to a lower-body injury and did not return, as the Oilers ended their three-game Pacific Division swing 1-1-1, nabbing three out of six points.

The Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights connected their seventh-consecutive victory - pushing their record to 35-22-8 for 78 points - in Fleury's 61st career clean sheet.
"They're a good team and they're feeling it right now at seven in a row," Oilers Captain Connor McDavid said post-game. "I thought the effort level was there. They were solid. They didn't give up many chances."
Feeling the urgency to continue piling points after settling for just a single against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, the Oilers attacked at the onset of puck drop in Sin City.
Less than a minute in, the National Hockey League's leading scorer, Leon Draisaitl, found himself in all alone on Fleury in tight. The 37-goal scorer chucked a backhander at the Vegas keeper but was denied by the pad.
The Orange & Blue dictated much of the first period of play, leading the shot count by a 12-9 margin when the 1st period ended.
McDavid struck iron on a lightning-quick rush and Edmonton's top-ranked power play caused two consecutive minutes of chaos despite not registering a shot on goal.
"We had lots of chances," McDavid said. "A crossbar and a couple unfortunate breaks. That's the way it goes sometimes."
Fleury's body of work allowed Pacioretty to give the Golden Knights the lead at 16:04 of the opening stanza. Pacioretty skated in and sniped the short side for his 30th of the year.
"I thought we played a really good first period. We wanted to come out and get a really good jump," Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett said.
Koskinen kept the seal from bursting in the second period when Vegas pushed to open the floodgates by out-shooting the Oilers 16-5.

EDM Recap: Oilers shut out by Fleury, Golden Knights

The Finnish goalie stood up Cousins' net-front deflection and stayed with Jonathan Marchessault when the speedy forward cut through the crease for a far-side opportunity.
"They put a hard push in the second period and really pinned us in our end for long periods of time," Tippett continued. "The fatigue factor came in and we just couldn't get ourselves back into it."
Edmonton ended the night 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill, directing just one shot on goal on the three man-advantages.
"We needed a power-play goal," said Draisaitl. "We couldn't get one over the line."
Two goals 4:15 apart in the 3rd - the first going to Cousins and the second to Theodore - put the match out of reach for the Oilers, who were competing in their second game in two nights.
The Oilers will return to Edmonton for a match against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
"It's been a hard go here a little bit with the schedule but we've had players play hard," Tippett said. "We're hanging around and we're trying to find a way to get points.
"Saturday we'll get Kass (Zack Kassian) back and I think slowly, we'll start to get some people back. Hopefully, everybody comes back fresh and rested to help the cause."
