EDMONTON, AB - Clutch Carter has done it again, folks.
Less than two weeks after scoring the game-winning goal with 6:16 remaining in Denver's 2-1 victory over Minnesota-Duluth in the West Regional Final, Oilers 2020 fourth-round draft pick Carter Savoie sent his Pioneers to the Frozen Four national championship with sudden-death heroics on Thursday.
Savoie scored with 5:07 to go in overtime to power the Pioneers past the Michigan Wolverines 3-2 and into the 2022 NCAA men's hockey championship on Saturday against Minnesota State, who beat rival Minnesota 5-1 in Thursday's second semfinal at TD Garden in Boston.
