EDMONTON, AB - Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan is slotting Tobias Rieder with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on Saturday against the Flames, the coach said on Friday.
Ty Rattie sustained a minor injury in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win against the Coyotes. The winger blocked a shot in the first period and then crashed into the boards in the extra session, causing the forward to miss Saturday's tilt with the Flames.
"We'll have some options," McLellan said on Friday. "We're still throwing that around. Today we had Tobias up there and Pontus. I'd like to see what Tobi does with those two, with Connor and Nuge on his off-wing. We're going to experiment with that."
McLellan said Saturday's group will be different from the one that starts the regular season in Sweden on Oct. 6.
"Our lineup tomorrow, if you think that's our opening night lineup, it probably won't be based on health and moving players around," he said.
