After getting their medicals and fitness testing done on Saturday in Edmonton, the Oilers prospects got on the ice for the first time in Jasper, AB.
University of Denver forward Tyson McLellan, son of Oilers Head Coach Todd, used the skate to wear off some summer rust.
"It was a good experience," McLellan said. "It's my first Development Camp so I'm just kind of getting used to things and getting the legs and hands back."
Sunday's on-ice was some parts offence and power skating. The recruits ran line rushes, worked on their fore checking and also did some edge work.
"The power skating was interesting, I've never done anything like it." said Kelly Klima, who's attending Camp alongside his twin brother Kevin.
The players focused on their edges by stepping onto a puck, isolating one leg and making C-cuts.
"When you put your foot on the puck and balance on one leg, it's tough," said Kelly.
Team Gretzky skaters will now do some strength and conditioning while Team Messier members take to the ice.
