The Oilers used the 84th-overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft to select defenceman Dmitri Samorukov from the Guelph Storm in the OHL.
Samorukov played in 67 games for the Storm this season, scoring four goals and adding 16 assists for 20 points.
The Moscow, Russia native is 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds.
Future Considerations' Scott Palmer had glowing remarks about the prospect.
"Samorukov continues to fly under the radar, but this kid can flat out play," Palmer said. "The big defender is highly intelligent and offensively gifted, plus he brings a physical presence to the ice every shift. He is tough to beat, as he uses his stick effectively and isn't afraid to body up opposing forwards who try to beat him one-on-one."
