EDMONTON, AB - Make it 50 for McDavid.
The Oilers captain notched his 50th goal of the season on Monday night against the Boston Bruins, marking the first time he has eclipsed that plateau in eight seasons over his National Hockey League career.
The milestone goal came with 7:29 remaining in the second period, while Boston and Edmonton were at 4-on-4. Klim Kostin started off the play on the forecheck, digging out the puck from behind the Bruins net. The Russian forward heard the wide-open McDavid clapping his stick on the ice, fed the captain with the backhand dish, and the Captain did the rest.
McDavid undressed Jeremy Swayman with some quick stick work before tucking in goal 50 at the end of a move that sent the Rogers Place crowd into a rapturous chorus of 'MVP! MVP MVP!' chants.
