EDMONTON, AB - The Captain is back in the fold.
After missing the last five games with a quad injury and returning to Toronto last week for rehabilitation, Connor McDavid felt good enough after skating on his own earlier in the morning to join his teammates during Thursday's morning practice at Rogers Place.
"I think the plan was just to go out and see how it felt this morning. It feels good," McDavid said. "We knew practice wouldn't be too hard or too physical, so we just did some flow drills. I just jumped in on that."
McDavid has felt his recovery progress, hoping to come to a point where there's no lingering feeling from the injury before suiting back up for the Oilers stretch drive until the end of the regular season and beyond.
"You just don't want to feel it anymore," McDavid said. "Just to go out there and be pain-free and not have it act up after the game or something like that a week from now or two weeks from now.
"I just want it to be solid moving forward for this long stretch of hockey that we're going to have in March and hopefully in the playoffs."
