EDMONTON, AB - Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli held a media availability on Monday following the NHL Trade Deadline.
The Oilers GM commented on Boston College forward J.D. Dudek, who was acquired from the New Jersey Devils in an exchange involving forward Pat Maroon.
"J.D. is a good college player," said Chiarelli. "He's a junior. He's got speed. He plays with some intensity. We have two other prospects in BC, so we've seen him quite a bit. Would have liked a prospect that was closer to play but it was a tough market. I don't really know why. It was tough. Maybe part of it was our players, in general, weren't as good as they were before. At the end of the day, it took until the very last second to get this one done. I'm happy I was able to get it done."
Dudek has six goals and 17 points in 33 games this season.
