EDMONTON, AB - Defenceman Matt Benning was sporting a full cage at Oilers practice on Wednesday after taking a puck up high in yesterday's 8-4 victory against the Los Angeles Kings.
"A few chipped teeth, a few stitches, and a swollen mouth," Benning said to the media this afternoon from the Oilers dressing room, with a fresh cut stitched above his swollen upper lip. "It wasn't as bad as people thought, it could've been a lot worse, but my lip took most of the blow.
"Probably looks worse than it feels, but my chipped tooth is a little sensitive. That's the worst part, but I go to the dentist this afternoon and then we'll go from there."
