Toronto won 5-1 at the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday and 5-3 at the San Jose Sharks on Thursday to improve to 8-1-0 on the road this season. The Maple Leafs haven't won in Los Angeles, San Jose and Anaheim in the same season since 1995-96. The Ducks are 4-8-2 in their past 14 games but starting their four-game homestand with a win Friday would move them within two points of the Sharks for first place in the Pacific Division.

Sparks is set to make his fourth start of the season after Andersen made 42 saves against the Sharks on Thursday. … Fowler was scheduled for surgery Friday to repair the facial fractures he sustained when he was hit in the face by a puck during the third period of a 3-2 shootout win against the Nashville Predators on Monday. A timetable for his return is expected to be set after surgery.
