Lindholm came over to North America after signing as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs on May 17, 2018, after playing the previous four seasons with Skelleftea AIK in the Swedish Hockey League.

He made the Maple Leafs out of training camp and had 12 points (one goal, 11 assists) in 61 games with Toronto before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets for Nic Petan, February 25, 2019.

Lindholm played in four regular-season games with Winnipeg, getting one assist, and two Stanley Cup Playoff games against the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference First Round.

He signed a two-year contract with the Boston Bruins as a free agent on July 1, 2019.
