ISLANDERS (8-6-2) at BLUES (13-3-1)

8 p.m. ET; FS-MW, MSG+2, NHL.TV

The Game

The St. Louis Blues will try for their 14th win in the first 18 games when they face the New York Islanders at Scottrade Center on Saturday.

St. Louis, 9-1-1 in its past 11 games, has never won 14 of its first 18. A win would give the Blues 29 points, matching the total of the 2013-14 team (13-2-3)

The Islanders are playing their third set of back-to-back games this season; they lost 5-0 at the Dallas Stars on Friday and were outshot 29-14. New York is 0-1-1 in its past two games.

Players to watch

Islanders center John Tavares has been held without a point in back-to-back games after getting 15 points (10 goals, five assists) in the previous seven.

Blues right wing Vladimir Tarasenko has at least a point in 13 of 17 games this season, including six points (two goals, four assists) during a three-game point streak.

They said it

"Maybe some heart would be nice to see, some work ethic, maybe following a game plan and maybe some consistency as far as getting pucks in. I don't know, take your pick." -- Islanders coach Doug Weight on MSG Network after the 5-0 loss to the Stars

"I saw the score, so I assume no one's going to be happy after a game like that. We're going to have to expect a big effort. They're going to work hard tonight. They're not going to want to have that type of performance again, so we're going to get the best of them." -- Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo on the Islanders
