Before leaving Denver on Tuesday morning, coach Jared Bednar told Altitude Radio that MacKinnon, a forward out since Dec. 5, is skating, but could return by Jan. 1, which would be ahead of schedule. … Landeskog, a forward who hasn't played this season; Byram, a defenseman, and Manson, a defenseman, aren't close to returning, according to Bednar. … Francouz, a goalie, is being evaluated and won't play. … There is no timeline for the return of Helm, a forward who hasn't played this season. … Kaut, injured against the Nashville Predators on Friday, is week to week. … Nichushkin, a forward injured against Nashville, won't play. … Cogliano returns after missing two games with an upper-body injury. … Johansson and Hudon were recalled from Colorado of the American Hockey League. … Carcone was recalled from Tucson (AHL), where he had a league-leading 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists) in 27 games. He will replace Maccelli, a forward, who is expected to be out for six weeks after getting injured in the first period against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
