Brossoit has entered two games in relief of Cam Talbot. Ward has yet to play after backing up Scott Darling in each of the first three games for Carolina.
Edmonton is on a three-game losing streak and will be without forward Leon Draisaitl, who is on injured reserve with an eye injury and concussion-like symptoms. He did not play in a 6-1 loss against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Center Martin Necas, selected by Carolina (No. 12) in the 2017 NHL Draft, will make his NHL debut.

Players to watch

Ward, an Edmonton native is 6-4-2 in his career against the Oilers. As a rookie in 2005-06, he was named winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy when the Hurricanes defeated the Oilers in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final.
Oilers right wing Kailer Yamamoto had his first NHL point, an assist on defenseman Adam Larsson's goal against the Senators. He will play on the top line with center Connor McDavid and left wing Patrick Maroon.
