BRUINS (20-15-4) at DEVILS (14-16-7)
7 p.m. ET; SN, MSG+, NESN, NHL.TV

Bruins team scope

Boston Bruins forward David Backes will miss his second straight game because of a concussion. He is out indefinitely. "He is a big part of our team and a key player," forward David Pastrnak said. "He's a great two-way forward so we miss but that's hockey. Injuries are always there. You'll always miss somebody so fos us we just have to stick to our plan" The Bruins are going for their third straight win for the first time since Dec. 1-5. "We had some good results the past couple of games and we want to continue to stay focused," forward Dominic Moore said. "It starts with having a good start tonight and that's what we're focused on." The Bruins, who are 11-6-4 on the road, did not hold a morning skate Monday.

Devils team scope

New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hall will be in the lineup after missing the past two games because of a lower-body injury. "It [stinks] missing games and you want to get back as soon as possible," Hall said. "Hopefully I can come back and add a bit of a spark." The Devils were defeated 6-2 by the Washington Capitals on Saturday and have lost 17 of their past 22 games (5-13-4). They went 0-for-9 on the power play and are 4-for-45 in their past 11 games. "I think that zapped a lot of confidence from our group last game. ... I think our chemistry on the power play is a little bit off," said Hall, who has four power-play goals and seven power-play points in 27 games this season. "I think we just have to reset and regroup and come out with a fresh mindset tonight." Goalie Cory Schneider will start after Keith Kinkaid started the past two games.
