EDMONTON, AB - Oilers Head Coach Ken Hitchcock provided an injury update on Oscar Klefbom on Friday.
"He's looking to see the doctors here on the weekend to get the green light to pull the pins so that he can start to go at it full time," Hitchcock said.
"If he's given the green light then he's still a few days away from being allowed to go on to the ice. We're hopeful that it's working out the way he feels and he's going to be fine here in a couple of days. Then he can join us sometime next week hopefully."
Hitchcock was previously hopeful Klefbom's recovery would be fast-tracked but has since reduced those expectations.
"I think the time frame, looking right now, it looks like it's a little bit quick to ask him to play before that (All-Star) break," Hitchcock said. "And then the break is 10 days and he's going to be able to skate a lot.
"Ideally, with those last three games we were kind of hoping we would catch a break but it doesn't look like it right now. Looks like we'll have to wait until the max (time frame)."
