The Blackhawks, who open a five-game homestand, are 0-5-1 in their past six at United Center. They are 12 points out of the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
The Ducks have lost back-to-back games and are 2-3-2 in their past seven after going 5-1-0 in their previous six. They trail the Calgary Flames by one point for third place in the Pacific Division and the Minnesota Wild by three points for the second wild card in the West.

Ducks forward Corey Perry has seven points (three goals, four assists) in six games this month after having three points (two goals, one assists) in nine games in January.
Blackhawks rookie forward Alex DeBrincat has nine points (seven goals, two assists) in his past nine games.

Status report

The Ducks sent defenseman Korbinian Holzer to San Diego of the American Hockey League after he cleared waivers. Pettersson could make his NHL debut. … The Blackhawks recalled Berube from Rockford of the AHL after Jeff Glass cleared waivers and was sent down. Rutta participated in the morning skate but will not play. Crawford did not skate and there's still no timetable for a potential return.
