ILYA SOROKIN UPDATE:
Ilya Sorokin is on Long Island and will join the Islanders next week in Toronto per President and GM Lou Lamoriello.
"Ilya will join the team at some time next week," Lamoriello said via a Saturday Zoom call with reporters. "There is no specific time at this point, but he will join the team to just go through the experience. He is ineligible to play. He will join the team."
Lamoriello confirmed that Sorokin is serving the quarantine protocols on Long Island will not count against the Islanders 31-player limit, but will count against the 52-person limit the Islanders can bring to Toronto.
Sorokin signed an entry-level deal with the Islanders on July 13 and a one-year contract extension on July 14. The Russian goaltender is joining the team to get acclimated to the team culture and system.
"He'll be there. As far as his development and his process, that will all take place," Lamoriello said. "Right now let's just focus on this team getting prepared for the Stanley Cup Playoffs."
