The Islanders selected Dal Colle with the No. 5 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft after he scored 95 points (39 goals, 56 assists) in 67 games with Oshawa of the Ontario Hockey League and was named to the OHL Second All-Star Team.
Dal Colle signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Islanders on Sept. 28, 2014. He played two more seasons at the junior level and joined Bridgeport of the American Hockey League at the end of the 2015-16 season.

In his first full season of professional hockey (2016-17), Dal Colle scored 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) in 75 games for Bridgeport. He played 60 games in the AHL the following season and made his NHL debut with the Islanders against the New York Rangers on Jan. 12, 2018.
Dal Colle represented Bridgeport at the 2019 AHL All-Star Game, when he scored 34 points (18 goals, 16 assists) in 34 games. He scored his first NHL goal against the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 17, 2019 and finished with seven points (three goals, four assists) in 28 games.
He had 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 53 games for the Islanders when the 2019-20 NHL season was paused March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
