TRACKING THE STORYLINES
Andersen To Face Former Team:Canes goaltender Frederik Andersen has played so well to start the season that he would be a story entering tonight's contest, regardless of who his club were facing. Carrying a .944 save percentage (SV%) through four games, Andersen has started every contest for the team this season and now tonight he could start against some of his old teammates. A member of the organization for five years, the native of Denmark backstopped Toronto to the playoffs in four of those seasons.
The Production Factory:As good as Andersen has been to start the season for the Canes, the offense has been a high note for the team as well. Touting six players at or above a point-per-game, the club has scored 18 goals in four games. Andrei Svechnikov leads the group with seven points in four games, including four goals. Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen both have six points in the team's four contests this season.
Milestone Watch:Defenseman Ian Cole is set to play his 600th NHL game tonight. Since the 2010-11 season, Cole has played 167 contests for the St. Louis Blues, 218 for the Pittsburgh Penguins, 20 for the Columbus Blue Jackets, 138 for the Colorado Avalanche, 52 for the Minnesota Wild and tonight is expected to be his fifth game played for the Canes.
