Just as they did when they made a run to the Eastern Conference Final in 2019, the Carolina Hurricanes will wear their black third jerseys when they're the designated "home" team during the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers and 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The decision again came from within the locker room, an internal straw poll that reflected overwhelming preference for using the third jerseys over the more traditional home red kits.

The Canes were 7-5-1 in their alternate sweaters in the shortened 2019-20 season, which included two additional game dates that were wiped from the schedule after the pause. The Canes were 11-2-2 in the black kits in the 2018-19 regular season and then posted a 5-2 record when wearing them at home during the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In total, the Canes own a 23-9-3 record in their black uniforms, which were unveiled in June 2018.
The Canes will face off with the New York Rangers in a best-of-five Stanley Cup Qualifier, the winner of which will advance to the First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. More details, including hub cities and a full schedule, are still to be announced.
