Sebastian Aho left in the third period of Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames following a seemingly head-targeted hit from Flames defenseman Mark Giordano. Giordano also caught Aho's left knee in the collision, and the Canes' leading scorer had to be helped off the ice.

After consulting with team doctors, Aho has been diagnosed with a concussion and a lower-body injury, and will be out indefinitely. Giordano was assessed a match penalty in Sunday's game and will face no further discipline.
Aho, 20, leads the Hurricanes in goals (16) and points (37) through 45 games played this season. The Rauma, FIN, native scored 24 goals and added 25 assists (49 points) in 82 games for Carolina in 2016-17, and has totaled 86 points (40g, 46a) in 127 career NHL games.
