Meanwhile, the victory snapped a five-game skid for the Jets.
The Flames are 12-4-5 on the season
Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm scored, while Johnny Gaudreau picked up a pair of assists and leads the team in scoring with 25 points.
Jacob Markstrom made 25 saves, while Connor Hellebuyck stopped 34 shots, including 16 in the third period when the teams were tied at two and the Flames came in waves looking for the go-ahead marker.
The homeside had a 23-13 edge in scoring chances, and 12-6 in high-danger chances.
The Flames had a glorious chance right off the hop about 20 seconds in, Andrew Mangiapane creating a turnover and then passing out from behind the net to Blake Coleman who looked five-hole but was stopped by Hellebuyck. Mangiapane then got a whack at the rebound, followed by two attempts by linemate Mikael Backlund.
Off the ensuing faceoff, Tkachuk would make it 1-0 just 26 ticks in when he drove the net and finished off a no-look backhand feed from Johnny Gaudreau to score his 10th of the season.
It was the league-leading 17th time this year the Flames have scored the first goal in a game.

Mangiapane nearly made it 2-0 about four minutes in as he cruised through the slot and took a long-distance feed from Backlund in the left corner but couldn't get enough on his backhand to beat Hellebuyck as he settled the puck down.
Lindholm did double the lead just six seconds into the Flames first powerplay of the game when Evgeny Svechnikov was sent off for boarding Oliver Kylington.
Gaudreau started the play with a pass to Sean Monahan who redirected it on net, Hellebuyck making the initial stop but Lindholm right there to bang the puck into the cage.

The Flames PK - which had climbed to fourth (87.7%) in the NHL heading into the tilt - got the job done not long after when the Jets got their first man-up of the night.
But then Kyle Connor brought the visitors within one at 16:26, scoring his 13th - tops on Winnipeg.
Gaudreau was sent in alone on a breakaway but his backhand was stopped just as time expired in the period, however Brenden Dillon as called for hooking him giving the Flames a full two-minute powerplay to start the second but they couldn't capitilize.
Paul Stastny knotted the game up at 4:50 by cashing in a rebound after Markstrom stopped a point blast.
Milan Lucic was given a five-minute boarding major and game misconduct at 15:32 for a hit on Dylan DeMelo.
Early in the advantage, Markstrom stopped a tip from Connor before Trevor Lewis drew a penalty on a shorthanded rush shortly before the period ended when he was held by Neal Pionk, giving the teams 32 seconds of 4-on-4 and just under a minute of PP time early in the final stanza for Calgary.
The Flames got another powerplay near the midway point of the frame when a dancing and dangling Gaudreau was tripped by Dillon. Hellebuyck stopped a shot by Mangiapane and then held his ground on the ensuing goalmouth scramble, and after stoned Monahan to keep it locked at two.
Calgary kept pouring it on, buzzing in the Jets zone and controlling play with a pile of quality chances but couldn't find twine.
The Jets got the game-winning goal off a Connor one-timer at 15:09.
They added a late empty-netter.
