The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has acquired a sixth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Andre Burakovsky.

Burakovsky, 31, registered 33 points (11G, 22A) in 75 regular-season games in 2025-26. He finished the season tied for fourth on the Blackhawks with 22 assists, while he ranked sixth on the team with 33 points. The forward also logged three power play goals, good for fifth on the squad, while his 11 goals last season were the most he’s scored since he posted 13 markers with the Seattle Kraken in 2022-23.

The 6-foot-3, 203-pound native of Klagenfurt, Austria has earned 420 points (164G, 256A) in 771 career regular-season NHL games over 12 seasons with Chicago, Seattle, Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals. A two-time Stanley Cup winner with Washington in 2018 and Colorado in 2022, Burakovsky has notched 47 points (20G, 27A) in 93 career postseason games.

Burakovsky was originally selected by Washington in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Blackhawks on June 21, 2025 via trade from Seattle in exchange for forward Joe Veleno.
