RECAP: Blackhawks Fall to Golden Knights in Season Opener

The Blackhawks opened the 2026-27 regular season Tuesday night in Las Vegas, falling 5-2 to the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena.

Chicago twice pulled within a goal after falling behind early, but Vegas responded both times to keep the Blackhawks from completing the comeback.

KANE FINDS THE NET

Patrick Kane didn't wait long to make his mark in his return to the Blackhawks.

With Chicago trailing 3-1 early in the third period, Kane picked up the puck and scored at 4:04 to pull the Blackhawks within one. The goal was Kane's first in a Chicago sweater since Feb. 19, 2023, during his first stint with the organization.

Kane finished the night with four shots on goal in a team-high 21:36 of ice time among Blackhawks forwards.

GREENWAY GETS ON THE BOARD

Jordan Greenway provided Chicago's first goal of the night midway through the second period.

After the Blackhawks entered the period trailing 2-0, Ryan Greene and Wyatt Kaiser helped set up Greenway, who beat Carter Hart at 12:23 to cut the deficit to one. The goal marked Greenway's first with the Blackhawks since being acquired alongside Bowen Byram from the Buffalo Sabres in June.

Greenway generated a team-high five shots on goal and added three hits in 14:08 of ice time.

KANTSEROV MAKES NHL DEBUT

Roman Kantserov made his NHL debut Tuesday night, skating in his first regular season game with the Blackhawks. The 22-year-old forward made the jump to Chicago after spending the past four seasons in the KHL.

Kantserov logged 17:07 of ice time, including 2:36 on the power play, and recorded one shot on goal and three hits. He also took 15 faceoffs in his debut, winning five.
