Sabres to recognize local military on warmup jerseys

For this season's Military Appreciation Night presented by New Wave Energy, the Buffalo Sabres will recognize Western New Yorkers who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting others during pregame warmups.
Tonight, players will wear custom military jerseys featuring the names of local military members and veterans on the back. The jerseys will be gifted to each service member during the game.
Wamups begin at 6:29 p.m. prior to tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils at KeyBank Center. Faceoff is at 7. Tickets are on sale now.

The Sabres will offer special recognition during the game to Air Force veteran Sondra Lee Ramos and the family of the late Nicholas Warden.

Nicholas Warden // #21 Kyle Okposo (C)

Captain Kyle Okposo will honor Nicholas Warden, a U.S. Army veteran from Depew, who was killed in Syria while combating ISIS as a volunteer fighter in 2017. Nikki the team dog was donated to WNYHeroes by the Warden family. WNYHeroes named Nikki in his honor.

Sondra Lee Ramos // #28 Zemgus Girgensons (A)

The jersey of alternate captain Zemgus Girgensons will recognize Sondra Lee Ramos, who retired from the Air Force in 2022 after a 25-year career. Nikki the team dog is currently in her service after they were matched by WNYHeroes' Pawsitive for Heroes program.
