Nashville, Tenn. (February 27, 2020) - The Nashville Predators Foundation empowered by
SmileDirectClub
(the "Predators Foundation") announced today that
Thistle Farms
- a safe and supportive community dedicated to healing, empowering and employing women survivors of trafficking, prostitution and addiction - will be the third-ever SuperGrant recipient. This SuperGrant will be presented at tonight's Nashville Predators game presented by SmileDirectClub.

Founded in 1997 by Reverend Becca Stevens, Thistle Farms offers a residential program, social enterprises that employ survivors and an education and outreach program for the public. Residents receive housing, medical care, therapy, education and job training for two years, at no cost to them. While serving more than 35 women through its residential and inmate programs, Thistle Farms also supports hundreds more women with its advocacy and referral services.
Thanks to this SuperGrant, Thistle Farms will receive funds devoted to its new Ready-Set-Succeed program (RSS). RSS will expand upon the existing opportunities provided by the Shop at Thistle Farms, the Café at Thistle Farms and the Thistle Farms Global Market. This seven-week job readiness program for Thistle Farms residents is designed to ensure that women affected by severe trauma, as well as the challenges of recovery, violence and incarceration, can get - and keep - high-quality jobs. Most importantly, this program will help survivors build discipline, self-esteem and self-sufficiency.
"Ready-Set-Succeed will offer both 1-on-1 mentoring and group classes designed to instill the confidence and skills that women need to be successful in any workplace," Thistle Farms Director of Development & Community Engagement Tara Hamilton said. "We believe that the confidence, stability and connection our social enterprises offer give women the best chance at long-term success. RSS will set survivors up for success through meaningful content and immersion in the community of graduates, volunteers and community leaders at Thistle Farms, who model the courage and determination needed to overcome past obstacles, set high goals and live a life they never imagined possible."
Starting next week, on Mondays and Tuesdays at the Thistle Farms Café and Shop, when customers show their Preds gear or SmileDirectClub aligners, the Predators Foundation and SmileDirectClub will donate back double the amount of that person's purchase. Through this SuperGrant, Thistle Farms will receive up to $40,000 in financial support.
"We are so excited for the large-scale partnership with Thistle Farms that will result from this SuperGrant," Nashville Predators Vice President of Community Relations Rebecca King said. "We love the Ready-Set-Succeed program and the support that it will provide for countless women experiencing a time of transition, and we can't wait to encourage Preds fans, SmileDirectClub customers and Nashville residents to visit the Thistle Farms Café and Shop."
Introduced this season as a part of the groundbreaking partnership between the Predators Foundation and Nashville-based SmileDirectClub, multiple SuperGrants, which range from $25,000 to $100,000, will be awarded each season to Middle Tennessee community organizations. Funding will be allocated for the purpose of completing large-scale projects in support of empowering lives during times of transition across education, health and cultural needs.
