Host Katie Engleson takes viewers to a number of events leading up to and including the 2023 NHL All-Star Game held at FLA Live Arena on Feb. 4. Panthers All-Stars Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov are featured throughout the show, as are former Panthers, members of the team's front office, Panthers fans and Bally Sports Florida personalities.
Engleson visits Fort Lauderdale Beach for the Panthers 'FTL Beach Sweep' and brings fans to hockey festivals in Sunrise and Coral Springs, which include autograph sessions with former Panthers Bill Lindsay and Bally Sports Florida's Ed Jovanovski as well as current defenseman Radko Gudas. Panthers President & CEO Matt Caldwell shares his thought about All-Star week.
At the Coral Springs Hockey Festival and Alumni Game at the Panthers IceDen, Bally Sports Florida's Randy Moller speaks with former Panthers including Roberto Luongo, Ray Sheppard and Peter Worrell as well as fellow Bally Sports Florida analyst Jeff Chychrun, who participates on the NHL alumni team. The alumni game features the coaching debut of Bally Sports Florida host Jessica Blaylock, who leads the Panthers alumni squad. Fans get a peek at Blaylock's pregame speech, and she is mic'd up on the bench during the game.
On Fort Lauderdale beach, Panthers alum and Chief Revenue Officer Shawn Thornton discusses the team's involvement in the 'NHL All-Star Future Goals Kids Day.' At this event, hundreds of students learn about the real-world implications of STEM education. Engleson also speaks with fans who have flocked to the shore to get autographs and take their picture with the Stanley Cup.
The show also covers an announcement by the Panthers and NHL that they are contributing a joint monetary donation in renovating an outdoor hockey rink at Fort Lauderdale's Holiday Park, where Tkachuk and Barkov play ball hockey with children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Tkachuk and Barkov also play a starring role in the NHL All-Star Skills and the NHL All-Star game at FLA Live Arena. Tkachuk was named the All-Star Game MVP after leading the Atlantic Division squad to victory.
