LOS ANGELES, CA – Call 1-800-MCDAVID.
And call it a California 'cream' sweep while you're at it, too.
Playing in his 800th career NHL game, Connor McDavid marked his milestone with a four-point night of a goal & three assists, while netminder Devon Levi was sensational in making a career-high 38 saves on Tuesday in a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena that extends their win streak to five in a row.
McDavid set up first-period tallies for Leon Draisaitl and Vasily Podkolzin before completing a three-goal opening frame from the Oilers by burying a 20-metre flip pass from Ty Emberson that sprung No. 97 on a breakaway later in the frame, eventually getting the assist on the Russian forward's late empty-netter to seal the perfect three-game California road trip for the Blue & Orange in their cream-coloured jerseys.
McDavid pushed his point streak to begin the season to six games and now leads the NHL in scoring with 16 points (4G, 12A), with Bouchard (14) and Draisaitl (11) not far behind him after enjoying respective multi-point performances in the victory that keeps the Oilers as the only team in the League that's yet to lose a game in regulation.
Podkolzin finished with two goals, extending his career-best point streak to six games.
Not to be outdone, Levi was exceptional in a career-best outing, making a handful of vital stops, including all 18 saves in a busy second period when the Oilers were heavily outshot by the Kings. The 24-year-old improved to 4-0-0 to begin his time in Edmonton.
The Oilers return home to Rogers Place looking to make it six in a row on Thursday when they start a home-and-away set with the Utah Mammoth.
