MORNING SKATE REPORT

ANAHEIM, CA - The old adage maintains that good things come in threes and following Monday's NHL Trade Deadline, the Oilers certainly hope it holds true.
It was a busy 16-hour stretch starting Sunday night in LA when Oilers GM and President of Hockey Ops Ken Holland shored up his blueline with the acquisition of veteran defenceman Mike Green from the Detroit Red Wings.
The sun rose on Monday and before the sand ran out on one of the most exciting days of the year for hockey fans, Holland had also picked up two speedy wingers in the likes of Andreas Athanasiou from Detroit and Tyler Ennis via Ottawa.
REINFORCEMENTS
The entire trio met the team in Anaheim on Monday night and will suit up for their first game in orange and blue when the Oilers continue their road swing with a stop in Orange County to take on the Ducks Tuesday night before wrapping up a back-to-back in Vegas on Wednesday.
To make the whirlwind journey just that much wilder for Ennis and Athanasiou is the fact Head Coach Dave Tippett has them penciled in on the top line with Connor McDavid.
"It's so special to just be a part of this team," Edmonton product Ennis said pre-game. "They have two of the best players on the planet and I get to play with Connor tonight- it's pretty cool. I'm just going to try and shake off some rust and work hard. That's all I can control."

On the other side of the locker room with speed of his own to burn is Athanasiou, who will also be flying alongside McDavid to start his Oilers tenure.
"I'm just excited to be here," said Athanasiou. "I was fortunate enough to actually watch a lot of Edmonton games this year so it's pretty exciting for me. (McDavid) is a fun player to watch so it'll be exciting to play with him for sureā€¦ I think with my speed I'll be able to open up a little bit extra ice and give him time and space and let him do his thing."

Coach Tippett knows finding chemistry isn't always as simple as just plugging and playing but the bench boss offered some thoughts on his rationale.
"It's a housewarming gift," Tippett joked when asked about slotting in the two additions alongside one of the game's most dynamic centres in their Oilers debuts.
"We want to get the new guys up and going as quick as we can. We're going to give it a try and see how it goes... We need to see where the parts fit. It's easy to move things around on paper but once you get out on the ice, you have to see how things work out together and who might be a fit for each other."
MAN DOWN
Monday's additions didn't come without some bad news as on Tuesday morning it was announced that forward Kailer Yamamoto will be out of action for at least a couple weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in LA on Sunday night.
While it's definitely a blow given that the line of Yamamoto, Leon Draisaitl & Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has combined for a staggering 82 points in the 21 games since being put together, the group will have to rely on the resolve that has buoyed them through injury woes of late.
"It's going to take some time to see where all the parts fit," Tippett said in the wake of Yamamoto's injury news. "Some of it is because of the injuries and some of it is because we have new players here."
With Yamamoto on the shelf, Tippett had Josh Archibald slotted in alongside Nugent-Hopkins and Draisaitl on Tuesday's morning skate.

"They're similar kind of players a little bit. There are things that I rely on Leon's line to do and I wanted to put the new guys with Connor so (Archibald) is a similar look as (Yamamoto) on that line."
Tuesday marks the second of four meetings this season between the Oilers and Ducks. Edmonton took the first decision at the Honda Center by a score of 6-2 back on November 10 with McDavid netting his first hat-trick of 2019-20.
LINEUP NOTES
In addition to the two new forwards, veteran defenceman Mike Green will also make his Oilers debut in Anaheim on a pairing with rookie blueliner William Lagesson. Mike Smith will get the nod in net for the first of the back-to-back.

PREVIEW

OILERS (33-22-7) vs DUCKS (24-30-8)
TV: 8:08 p.m. MT; Televised on Sportsnet West
Head-to-Head:
The Oilers and Ducks will meet on Tuesday for the second time this season before meeting two more times on March 23rd and 29th in Edmonton at Rogers Place before the regular season concludes.
Connor McDavid was unstoppable in their last meeting back on November 10, recording a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory. Leon Draisaitl at his side recorded four helpers and Mikko Koskinen made 31 saves on 33 shots.
Oilers team scope:
McDavid posted a goal and two assists in his return from a quad injury on Sunday as the Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 at the Staples Center.
Leon Draisaitl posted his 39th power-play goal in the victory off the feed from McDavid and now has 15 points (7G, 8A) in his last eight games and 98 on the season.
There was plenty of movement from Oilers GM and Pres. of Hockey Ops Ken Holland ahead of Monday's Trade Deadline, beginning with the acquisition of Mike Green from Detroit for a conditional pick in 2020 or 2021 before the final buzzer sounded on their win over the Kings.
Holland added a top-six forward in Andreas Athanasiou, along with prospect Ryan Kuffner, for forward Sam Gagner and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021. The acquisition of another forward in Tyler Ennis from the Ottawa Senators for a 2021 fifth-round pick and a minor trade rounded out a busy day for the Oilers at the Deadline.
Ducks team scope:
With a 24-30-8 record and being 14 points out of a playoff spot, it hasn't been a season to remember for the Anaheim Ducks.
The Ducks have lost 16 of their last 22 home games and five straight on home ice at the Honda Center.
No Duck has eclipsed 40 points this season, but Tuesday's opponents for the Oilers have four players in the 30-point range -- Jakob Silfverberg (34), Rickard Rakell (35), Adam Henrique (37) and Ryan Getzlaf (38).
Anaheim made six trades on Deadline Day, including one with the Oilers to send goaltender Angus Redmond and a conditional seventh-round pick to Edmonton for defenceman Joel Persson.
By the Numbers:
The Oilers' 13-5-3 record since December 31, 2019 is the third best in the NHL in that span. ... The Oilers have earned a point in 10 of their last 13 games against Ducks, going 3-0-1 in their last 4 road games at the Honda Center. ... The Oilers are winners of three-straight road games, outscoring their opponents 12-6. ...
The Oilers are 11-8-2 against Pacific Division opponents while the Ducks are 8-10-2. ... The Ducks have scored 40 goals less than the Oilers this season but have allowed only six more. ...
