Joakim Nygard Bio
At 16 years old, Nygard moved from his native Stockholm to Sunne in Varmland County. He made his pro debut with the men's team, playing one game in Division 1. He played seven seams for Farjestad in the Swedish Hockey League and enjoyed a breakout season in 2016-17 with 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 52 games.
Undrafted, Nygard used his NHL out-clause to sign a one-year, entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers on May 24, 2019.
