Kane returns while Skinner makes his 50th start against the Jets

OVERTIME

3:38: ZACH. HYMAN. WINS THE GAME IN... OVVVVVVVERTIIIIIMEEEE! Goal No. 51 and the 200th of his career is a classic hard-working Hyman goal as he goes to the net with the puck, fires a backhand on Hellebuyck and buries the rebound five-hole to win the Oilers the extra point in a 4-3 victory over the Jets at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday night. The win breaks up a mini two-game slump for the Oilers heading back to Edmonton, where they'll host the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday at Rogers Place.

5:00: Overtime has begun!

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: A job well done by the penalty kill sees us into overtime, tied 3-3 through regulation.

2:06: This is as critical as penalty kills come. Nugent-Hopkins heads off for high-sticking with just over two minutes left in regulation. There's discussion that the stick of Nuge didn't even hit Adam Lowry, but it stands after the officials met at the penalty boxes.

8:53: Skinner responds with a MASSIVE glove save to settle both himself and the Oilers bench down as we hit a TV timeout.

9:21: We have a tie game. Nikolaj Ehlers' effort on goal from the top of the left circle is deflected in by Sean Monahan. 3-3.

10:21: Jets get a goal back. Dillon tees up a one-timer that beats Skinner at the right post after the netminder had his vision obstructed by the traffic in front. The Oilers lead 3-2 with over 10 minutes to play in the third period.

13:50: NUGE CAREER GOAL No. 250! The longest-tenured Oiler breaks a 13-game goalless stretch with a power-play goal at the back post after McDavid delivered it onto his tape following the zone entry. Edmonton will remain on the power play. 3-1.

14:17: Now it's Edmonton's turn with an extended power play after Nikolaj Ehlers gets his stick into the jobs of Darnell Nurse, who was crossing the Jet's blueline before taking the Finn's stick up high and drawing blood.

17:32: Derek Ryan goes hard to the net and draws a hooking penalty against Josh Morrissey, but only 16 seconds into the power play, Zach Hyman is given two minutes for a hooking infraction of his own. We'll play 4-on-4.

20:00: The third period is coming up!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: AFTER 2 | Edmonton 2, Winnipeg 1. Goals from Draisaitl and Brown flip the Oilers into the lead before the break with goals 1:43 apart. The Oilers will get 1:01 of power-play time to begin the third frame.

59.1: The officials make an easy Too Many Men call on the Jets at the benches to send Edmonton to their first power play late in the second period.

5:53: Less than a minute after scoring, Brown takes a double minor for high-sticking.

6:31: BROWNIE WITH A BELTER! Connor Brown emphatically finishes off his third goal of the campaign with an unstoppable wrist shot from the hashmarks that goes top shelf on Hellebuyck for Edmonton's second goal in 1:43, giving the Blue & Orange a 2-1 lead.

Brown buries a shot just under the bar past Hellebuyck to make it 2-1

8:14: LEON LEVELS THINGS UP! Connor McDavid leans into a Jets defenceman off the zone entry and then dishes it to Warren Foegele at the top of the circle, who then offloads it to the German to round an outstretched and out-of-position Hellebuyck and bury the equalizer and his 38th goal of the season. 1-1.

Draisaitl takes a pass from Foegele & finds twine to tie the game

9:50: ANOTHER SCRAP! This time, Darnell Nurse drops 'em with Brenden Dillon after Hyman was hit partly into the Winnipeg bench. That's two fights tonight with more fighting majors than minor in fractions – only one to Edmonton so far against Nurse on a bogus call in the first frame.

10:19: Hellebuyck makes a stand-up break-away save on Evander Kane back in his old stomping grounds as he sticks out the glove on the winger.

15:17: Jets on the board. Mason Appleton finishes off a rebound past a sliding Stuart Skinner. 1-0 for the hosts.

19:23: Warren Foegele and Leon Draisaitl buzz the tower with a dangerous chance on a two-on-one in the first minute, but Hellebuyck stops the German's low shot.

20:00: The middle frame has commenced!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: AFTER 1 | Oilers 0, Jets 0. Shots are 13-10 in favour of Winnipeg.

17.1: Sean Monahan gets unlocked for a breakaway at the Oilers blueline, but puts his shot off the crossbar late in the period. The play looked like it would've been offside.

12:17: A huge save by Connor Hellebuyck, who stops Zach Hyman from burying the rebound off Mattias Ekholm's point shot.

12:21: Corey Perry and Logan Stanley throw hands after coming together in the corner off a dump-in by the Oilers forwards.

13:34: Edmonton kills off their first penalty against Nurse to keep it scoreless, but trail 7-1 in shots early.

15:54: A brutal tripping call from the official sends Darnell Nurse to the box for a soft whack into the shins of Josh Morrissey.

18:04: Skinner makes a good early stop on an open look for Nikolaj Ehlers on a partial break.

20:00: GAME ON FROM THE 'PEG!

20:00: The first period at Canada Life Centre will begin at 6:07 p.m. MT.
