Injury updates

Corey Crawford, CHI -- After not playing in an NHL game since Dec. 23 because of a concussion, Crawford returned for the Chicago Blackhawks and made 27 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. If he remains healthy, Crawford is a top 10 fantasy goalie; he had a 2.27 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and 16 wins in 27 starts last season; the five other Chicago goalies combined for 17 wins in 55 starts. Cam Ward, who will now be relegated to backup duties, is 3-0-2 but has poor peripherals (4.06 GAA, .879 SV%).
Jonathan Quick, LAK -- Playing in his first game since Oct. 5, Quick (lower body) did not look sharp allowing six goals on 29 shots faced in a 7-2 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday. The Los Angeles Kings goalie has been one of the top goalies in the NHL for the past nine seasons when healthy. Now that he's returned, Jack Campbell, who had an up-and-down performance in five starts, will be the backup, getting occasional work when Quick needs a day off. Campbell is worth rostering to handcuff Quick but no longer as a standalone option.
Matt Murray, PIT -- Murray hadn't played since Oct. 8 because of a concussion before a 38-save shutout against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. That lowered his GAA to 3.65 and raised his save percentage to .893, indicating his poor play in his first two starts of the season. The 24-year-old has a history of injuries, so his fantasy owners may still want to handcuff backup Casey DeSmith (1-0-2, 2.58 GAA, .922 SV%).
Frederik Andersen, TOR -- The Maple Leafs are the highest scoring team in the NHL but have also allowed the third-most goals (26). Andersen, who had a knee injury, made 36 saves on 37 shots faced in a 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, a welcome sight for fantasy owners. Andersen had allowed at least three goals and had a SV% under .900 in three of his prior four games. His GAA hasn't been lower than 2.67 in his two-plus seasons with the Maple Leafs, but he does offer a high SV% because of his shots volume against and plenty of wins with such goal support.
