The Columbus Blue Jackets have won five straight at home, one shy of tying their record from Dec. 26, 2007 to Jan. 15, 2008, and March 24 to April 10, 2015. They have outscored visitors 21-6 in the past three games at Nationwide Arena. "Scoring 21 goals in three games is pretty impressive," Capitals forward Justin Williams said. "But it wasn't against us." One of the reasons for Columbus' success is the NHL's best power play, which is converting at 33.3 percent. It's been particularly lethal at home, going 10 of 19 (52.6 percent). The penalty kill fell from first in the League to 13th (83.3 percent) after the St. Louis Blues scored on four of five chances on Saturday. Columbus is 7-2-2 when scoring first and has the first goal in seven straight games. In their past three home games the Blue Jackets have scored early in the first period: Cam Atkinson at 10:56 against the Montreal Canadiens; Boone Jenner at 1:23 against the Anaheim Ducks and Sam Gagner at 2:34 against the Blues. Coach John Tortorella has cancelled morning skates for the remaining five home games in November, although players may come in on their own.
