Status report

The Golden Knights recalled Brown from Chicago of the American Hockey League on Sunday. The 27-year-old is expected to make his Vegas debut against the Ducks. Brown played in 28 regular-season games and eight Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season. ... Roy, a forward, left in the second period against the Panthers on Saturday and did not return. ... Fowler, a defenseman, will miss his third consecutive game. ... Backes, a 35-year-old forward acquired by the Ducks in a trade with the Boston Bruins on Friday, participated in the optional morning skate but won't make his Anaheim debut against Vegas.
