Preds Donate Thanksgiving Meals in Nashville Community

Thanksgiving is still two weeks away, but for some Nashville families, what they'll put on the table is no longer a concern.
With the help of the Nashville Predators Foundation, turkeys donated by Bridgestone Arena concessions vendor Delaware North and side dishes provided by Preds staff, Filip Forsberg, Kevin Fiala, Ryan Ellis and Pontus Aberg headed out into the community to deliver Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings to deserving Music City residents, with help from the folks at Walmart.
While Ellis and Aberg paid a visit to Project Return, an organization with programs designed to help individuals who have been incarcerated successfully merge back into their local communities, Forsberg and Fiala made their way to the Metro Nashville Police Department Midtown Hills Precinct.

The Preds wingers joined forces with Metro PD Commander Kay Lokey and a slew of officers, plus Terry Key of the Edgehill Bike Club, and together, the group walked the Edgehill community to deliver the meals.
"We don't have Thanksgiving back home in Sweden, but my first year here, I got to do this trip and deliver turkeys and it's just awesome," Forsberg said. "The smiles that you put on people's faces by basically doing just a small thing like that, it's the best."

Key, who knows his community better than most and works tirelessly to make a difference, handpicked the families he thought were most deserving of the meals, knocking on doors and leading the group in a round of applause and cheers each time the knock was answered.
The greeting party continued to grow from stop to stop with upward of 50 people sharing treats and well-wishes with Forsberg and Fiala.
And thanks to the generosity of those who donated time and resources, the community is a bit brighter than it was yesterday.
"We all saw what this city gave us in the Stanley Cup Final, and for us to do stuff like this is awesome," Forsberg said. "We all want to give back, and we get so much from the city that we can't give back enough."
