The Florida Panthers visit Joe Louis Arena after losing the first three games of a four-game road trip. Florida is 1-3-1 since starting the season with home wins against the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings. "To end a road trip, you've got to salvage points from here," defenseman Keith Yandle said after a 3-0 loss against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. "We've got to be ready against a good team." The Panthers defeated the Red Wings 4-1 on Oct. 15 at the BB&T Center, outshooting Detroit 37-22. Forward Jonathan Marchessault had a goal and two assists and Roberto Luongo made 21 saves.

The Red Wings had their six-game winning streak ended by a 1-0 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday. Detroit didn't have a shot on goal in the first 10 minutes and committed eight turnovers in the second period. "They were hungrier than us all over the ice," coach Jeff Blashill said. "We should have known better than that." Blashill went with three lines for most of the third period, with Steve Ott and Drew Miller each getting one shift and Luke Glendening playing two. Forward Thomas Vanek is week to week with a middle-body injury.
Florida coach Gerard Gallant split up his top defensive pairing of Ekblad and Yandle on Saturday. Ekblad played with Kampfer, while Yandle was with Demers. Kampfer was playing his first game of the season, replacing Matheson. … Ouellet replaces Sproul alongside Smith on the Red Wings' third defensive pairing.
