Defenseman Zdeno Chara will play his 900th game with the Bruins. The 41-year-old captain has played in 1,429 games during his 21 NHL seasons.
The Bruins are is playing the second of a four-game road trip through Canada. They lost 5-2 to the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, which ended a four-game winning streak.

Bruins center Patrice Bergeron has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) during a five-game point streak.
Oilers center Connor McDavid has nine points (four goals, five assists) in four games. He set an NHL record with a point on each of Edmonton's first nine goals this season.

Status report

Heinen will return to the lineup for Boston after being a healthy scratch the past two games … Halak will start his third game of the season … Bouchard returns to the Oilers lineup after being a healthy scratch at the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. Bouchard, the No. 10 pick of the 2018 NHL Draft, will play his fourth NHL game.
