Laine, who left with a bruised left foot after blocking a shot during the second period of a 2-1 overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, took part in the morning skate and told coach Paul Maurice he wants to play. Maurice said no determination will be made until team doctors examine him. Laine is second in the NHL with 43 goals, one behind Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals.
A win would give the Jets 100 points, surpassing the 99 they had in 2014-15. Winnipeg has won three in a row and is eight points ahead of the Minnesota Wild for second in the Central Division.
The Ducks have won four straight games and hold the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. They are one point behind the Los Angeles Kings for third place in the Pacific Division. Anaheim is tied in points with the Colorado Avalanche for the first wild card, but Colorado holds the tiebreaker with five more regulation/overtime wins.
