Blues team scope

The St. Louis Blues will play the second of a four-game road trip, and coach Ken Hitchcock would like to see an increase in production from his top-nine forwards. "We just need more. We need more from people; top-end guys we need more from," Hitchcock said Friday. "You can't just keep relying on guys like [Robby] Fabbri and [Jaden] Schwartz to carry the day. We need more from other people there, it's just the bottom line." Hitchcock's observation came after the Blues lost 3-2 at the New York Islanders on Thursday; they are 1-6-0 in their past seven road games. "I think just getting into the zone and penetrating the other team's defense; we have great players when we're all working together as a five-man unit out there," defenseman Colton Parayko said. "We need to go into areas that are hard to go in order to score goals." Of the 16 shots taken by Blues forwards against the Islanders, seven were generated by Fabbi and Schwartz. Center Patrik Berglund has one goal in 27 games this season, and left wing David Perron has one goal in his past eight games. "[The lack of scoring is] a good question," Berglund said. "I think we all want to score more goals. Just have to keep working."

Devils team scope

The New Jersey Devils have set a franchise record by starting the season undefeated in regulation through the first 10 home games (8-0-2); they are the only team in the NHL this season without a regulation loss at home. The Devils previous record of 8-0-1 was set in 1987-88. Goaltender Keith Kinkaid will make his seventh start after Cory Schneider allowed five goals on 49 shots in a 5-2 loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. "A lot of times our puck management through the neutral zone, we wanted to play an east-west game and we should have played a more north-south game and put pucks in," Hynes told NorthJersey.com. "We didn't do that. We fed a little bit off their game and they took advantage of that and got in our zone. They had a lot of zone time. We didn't help ourselves." The Devils are 15-of-16 (93.8 percent) on the penalty kill in the past five games. Hynes did not elaborate on the incident involving Canadiens goaltender Carey Price and Devils forward Kyle Palmieri with 18 seconds remaining in the first period Thursday, when Price received a four-minute roughing penalty for punching Palmieri with his blocker. "I've got no comment on it," Hynes said. "It really doesn't matter what I agree or disagree with. The referees make the call and it is what it is. What they decide is what they decide." Forward Michael Cammalleri needs one point to reach 600 in his NHL career.
