Corey Crawford is back practicing with his teammates, which is very encouraging, to say the least. As the goaltender works his way back from a concussion, there hasn't - to this point - been a defined timeline for his return to game action.
However, on Tuesday morning, Head Coach Joel Quenneville said the team could envision their goaltender returning around October 18, which is a Thursday night home game against Arizona. This is all based on the hope that there will be no setbacks, and it is unlikely for Crawford to return sooner than that date.
"Optimistically, looking at the calendar and looking at dates, there's a window of five days or four days off after that Saturday (October 13) game," said Quenneville. "If all goes well, that could be the perfect scenario, but you never know if there's a bump in the road. After this weekend, together, we'll see how he handles that and then we'll get a better idea on picking a date."
Overall, Crawford has looked pretty good during his two full practices this week. The team is impressed with how he's performed.
"He looks extremely good out there," Quenneville said. "I think he's tracking the puck, his quickness, his anticipation, his movements, feels good, glove hand looks sharp, and he's sharp in all areas. I don't see any different."
