SAINT PAUL -- Minnesota Wild defenseman Ryan Suter is scheduled to play in his 1,000th NHL game on Thursday, Oct. 25 when the Wild hosts the Los Angeles Kings at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM. The Wild will honor Suter for reaching the 1,000-game NHL milestone in a special pre-game ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 27 when it hosts the Colorado Avalanche at 7 p.m.

Suter, 33 (1/21/85), will become the 325th player (322nd skater) and 109th defensemen in NHL history to reach the 1,000-game milestone. He will also become the 51st defensemen in NHL history to play in 1,000 games and record 500 points. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound native of Madison, Wisconsin will be the sixth player to play his 1,000th game in a Wild sweater, joining Eric Staal (March 19, 2017 at Winnipeg), Matt Cooke (March 11, 2014 vs. Edmonton), Matt Cullen (Jan. 10, 2012 vs. San Jose), Andrew Brunette (Feb. 1, 2011 vs. Los Angeles) and Keith Carney (Feb. 24, 2008 vs. Calgary).
Suter became the sixth active NHL defenseman and 65th all-time to
reach the 500-point milestone
when he tallied a goal and assist at Dallas on Oct. 19. He also became the 11th U.S.-born defenseman in NHL history to reach the 500-point milestone.

Signed as a free agent by Minnesota on July 4, 2012, Suter has tallied 262 points (39-223=262), 212 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-69 rating in 457 games with Minnesota. He ranks first all-time in franchise history in scoring, assists, power play assists, power play points, shots on goal, plus-minus rating and TOI/game (28:01) by a defenseman, third in games played and fourth in goals. Suter owns 500 points (77-423=600), 608 PIM and a plus-112 rating in 999 career NHL games with Nashville and Minnesota. He has tallied 29 points (6-23=29) in 78 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
Since entering the NHL in 2005-06, he ranks second amongst active NHL defensemen in assists, third in games played, fifth in scoring and TOI/game (25:06), sixth in power play points, seventh in plus-minus rating and 12th in shots on goal. Suter has appeared in three NHL All-Star Games (2012, 2015 and 2017), was named to the NHL First All-Star Team and named a finalist for the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 2013. He was selected by Nashville with the seventh overall selection in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
