DALLAS --It took a month, but the Stars' offense is finally coming alive. They recorded their second consecutive 5-2 victory, this time over the Detroit Red Wings to bring their record this season back to .500 (6-6-2).

Jason Robertson led the way with two goals and three points, while Jake Oettinger looked like a hardened veteran with a 28-save victory in his season debut.
Here are the five takeaways of the game.

Robertson, Benn lead Stars past Red Wings, 5-2

HINTZ ON FIRE

For the third straight game, Roope Hintz did what he does best. With just enough time and space to get off a shot, he sent a blistering wrister over Alex Nedeljkovic's right shoulder to give the Stars a 3-0 lead.
If this was last week or prior, his shot probably wouldn't have gone in. But the 25-year-old forward is feeling it now. The goal gave him points in four straight games (three goals, two assists).

ROBO'S BIG NIGHT

Robertson's offense came alive on Tuesday with a two-goal, three-point performance. It was only a matter of time before the 2020-21 Calder Trophy runner-up had a game like this.
Both goals were timely, too. His first goal came minutes into the third to restore Dallas' two-goal lead. Then, with the net empty at the other end, he sent a shot the length of the ice to seal the win for the Stars.
Robertson is riding a four-game point streak (two goals, five assists) and has nine points (three goals, six assists) in his past seven games.

OETTINGER POISED IN SEASON DEBUT

Making his first start with the Stars this season, Oettinger was calm, cool and collected. He made several key stops, notably on Red Wings rookie Lucas Raymond, denying him twice all alone on the doorstep.
Oettinger's numbers in the AHL this season aren't great (4-5-1 record with a 2.62 GAA and .913 SV%), but he was up to the challenge on Tuesday.
As a rookie last season with Dallas, Oettinger posted an 11-8-7 record with a 2.36 GAA and .911 SV%.

MR. 1,100

Joe Pavelski skated in his 1,100th career NHL game becoming the 28th American-born player in NHL history and one of only four active American-born NHL players to reach that milestone.
He had amassed 851 career points (398 goals, 453 assists) in his 1,099-game NHL career leading up to Tuesday's game, ranking eighth among active players in goals and 14th in points.
With an assist on Robertson's goal, Pavelski's point streak reached seven consecutive games (three goals, four assists). It's his longest point streak since 2019-20 (seven games: Feb. 1-16).

MULTI-GOAL LEADS

Playing with a multi-goal lead was rarefied air for the Stars until the past two games, but they've been able to preserve the leads they've earned over the Flyers and Red Wings.
Scoring first always helps, but the Stars have been able to jump out to multi-goal leads allowing them to stick to their game plan.
They won't score five every night, but it's encouraging to see the offense finally come alive.
