In honor of Black History Month, the San Jose Sharks look forward to celebrating Black history and culture throughout February. The Sharks will be partnering with Black-owned businesses, Black artists and non-profit organizations committed to fighting for racial justice, providing opportunities for people of color, and more.

On February 1, the Sharks Foundation launched its
Teal Totes
fundraiser which are backpacks that include Sharks-themed items and a custom, autographed Sharks jersey available only through this offer. Each item in the tote features a unique crest created by artist
Terry Smith,
designer of the original San Jose Sharks crest. Partial net proceeds from sales will benefit
Self-eSTEM
, whose mission is to build the self-esteem of girls and young women from untapped communities, while providing interactive, culturally responsive STEM literacy, leadership, and technical training preparing them to thrive in ever-changing labor markets. Teal Totes are on sale while supplies last!
On February 2 from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m., the Sharks Black Employee Resource Group hosted members of the BIPOC community at
Sharks Ice at San Jose
for an introduction to hockey and ice activities.
On February 17, the Sharks Foundation will sell
Black History Mystery Pucks
. Featuring a design created by Sharks Account Sales Manager and artist,
Mohamed Fofana
, pucks will be available at the Foundation Booth outside Section 118 with a select amount available for
online purchase
.
The Sharks have dedicated the February 26 home game as Black History Night, kicking-off the evening with a Black History Block Party and Voter Registration event from 3:30 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. on Barack Obama Boulevard. The party will feature booths from local BIPOC non-profits and various businesses, a beer booth hosted by the Sharks Foundation and a DJ onsite to welcome community members to this exciting pre-game event.
During the game,

from KNBR Radio, will serve as the in-arena announcer as the Sharks face the Bruins, and Smith will start the game with a ceremonial puck drop. Each fan in attendance will receive a Black History Shirsey designed by Fofana that mimics the warm-up jersey worn by Sharks players on Black History Night in 2021. This year's player-worn warm-up jerseys will be auctioned by the Sharks Group Sales department and benefit
African American Community Service Agency
(AACSA). Fans can place bids on February 26 by texting GROUPSALES to 76278.
In addition, AACSA will serve as the beneficiary of a
Black History fundraiser
hosted by the Sharks Foundation from February 26-28. Fans can place bids for the Sharks Foundation's fundraiser, which will feature signed Joel Ward memorabilia and other Sharks merchandise, by texting SHARKS to 76278.
The Sharks Foundation's beneficiary of the 50/50 Raffle presented by
Cache Creek Casino Resort
will be
Positive Coaching Alliance.
The winner of the raffle will go home with 50% of the jackpot, while the other 50% will benefit the non-profit's Sports Can Battle Racism program.
