jake guentzel locker room interview

Here's what the Pens had to say heading into their Metro contest against the Devils…

ON NEW JERSEY
Sullivan: "They've played extremely well against us. They have incredible team speed. They have an aggressive forecheck. They're young and they play with a lot of energy."
Crosby: "We have to play a little bit faster. We've been stalled a little bit coming through the neutral zone against them in the past. We'll try to get out of our D zone a little bit better. Use our speed and try to play in their end."
Guentzel: "Really, hard working team. It's going to be a hostile game. It's big points for us. We're all close in the standings. It'll be a tight-checking game."
Maatta: "They're a good team. It's different than they've been in the last couple of years. It'll be a huge game tonight. We need to make sure we play our best game. If we do that, we'll be fine. If we don't it'll be a tough one."
ON JERSEY'S STYLE
Hornqvist: "We can't control what kind of game the opponent is going to play against us. The things we can control are our effort, our attitude and our work ethic. We have to make sure we're on top of our game every single night and try to get better, that's why we're here."
Maatta: "We both want to play with speed and play fast. They have good skaters up front and balance in their four lines. It doesn't matter who's out there. We just have to be aware."
ODDS AND ENDS
Guentzel on his production: "Just bring the confidence and consistency tonight. Hopefully it carries over. It should be a fun game to play in."
Crosby on the stretch run: "This is the fun part of the year. You're playing with important points on the line against teams that you're close with. That should bring out our best. This is a great time of year, and we need to get up for every game regardless of who we play, especially these ones."
Simon on his injury and status: "I feel good. I've been off for two weeks. It was tough because it was a lot of practicing in the gym but it's never like the game. I'm excited to be back and excited to play again."
