The Pittsburgh Penguins and Penguins Foundation, along with the NHL, will celebrate Gender Equality Month throughout the month of March to amplify women driving the sport of hockey.

The month-long celebration will kick off on March 7 during Pittsburgh's game versus the New York Rangers with the Penguins' 3rd annual Her Hockey Day presented by 84 Lumber. This day recognizes those girls stepping onto the ice for the first time, the women cheering on the Penguins from home and those who are trailblazers in the NHL.
Her Hockey Day will include a #HerHockey social media contest, a female Penguins Jr. Starter presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods, and a Her Hockey Auction. Beginning on Mar. 7, the Penguins Foundation and DICK'S Sporting Goods will be auctioning off Penguins memorabilia, including signed Her Hockey Day locker room name plates, as well as Team USA women's items and more in support of girls hockey initiatives. Fans can text PENS to 76278 to join the auction and will have 7 days to bid to assist with growing girls hockey in the Pittsburgh region.
The first-ever Try Her Hockey for Free event presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods will also run on Mar. 7 at North Park and South Park at 9:00 AM. Local girls ages 5 through 13 will hit the ice with the Penguins Foundation, DICK'S Sporting Goods and Allegheny County Parks to receive skating and hockey instruction provided by female coaches. Registration is now open for the event at
