Panther Postcard: Boyle's Back on the Road

by Brian Boyle @BriBrows22 / FloridaPanthers.com

Dear Panthers fans,

I'm still a little stiff, but it's great to be back doing what I love to do.

I'm really thankful for this opportunity with the Florida Panthers. It was a test of patience for a number of weeks, but it was all about just keeping the faith and hoping that things would work out however they would. In the end, I'm very happy that everything worked out the way it did.

I was really happy we won my first game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. The next day I was a little sore from taking those hits and bumps after not having a training camp, but it's exciting. You really feel alive when you wake up a little sore like that, like you did something.

There's a little bit to work on, but all-in-all it was great to be a part of a win again.

We touched down in Calgary last night after a long travel day, so Brett Connolly, Noel Acciari and I just went to Earl's Kitchen to grab a quick bite and watch some of the baseball game. We were there for only about an hour because everyone was ready to get back and go right to bed.

But that's a great part of this game, the closeness you have with teammates.

Each team that I've played on throughout my career, I've learned that what you have with the guys in the room is a special thing that this league has. It's unmatched in terms of sports. The family atmosphere it brings is really amazing. Guys are like a bunch of brothers hanging out.

It's really nice to be a part of that again.

It's tough with my family being back home right now, so I'll be excited to get back, but road trips are a part of this game. I'm excited to be out here right now and getting to know all of the guys.

At this point, all that I'm thinking about is just playing well tonight against the Flames.

I feel like I've been able to focus the best when I'm looking at what's right in front of me. We're playing some good teams on this road trip. It's going to be tough, but if you take it one game at a time, you can focus on that. In terms of your individual game, that approach is no different.

You've got to focus on what you need to do tonight and not look too far down the road.

Thanks for the warm welcome,

Brian Boyle
