SUNRISE, Fla. - The Florida Panthers announced today that they have offered the first-of-its-kind name, image and likeness contract to every eligible female athlete at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. Over 200 female athletes at FAU are welcomed to apply to the 'FLA Athlete' program through their NIL partner, Dreamfield, with this new agreement.
"We're excited to announce this next stage of our 'FLA Athlete' program and bring an entire collegiate athlete women's program into our Panthers family," said Panthers Chief Strategy Officer Sam Doerr. "We look forward to supporting and collaborating with these talented female athletes in our South Florida community on innovative ideas and events in South Florida."
As part of the endorsement, each female athlete at FAU will be invited to attend Panthers hockey games and engage their local fanbase through social media posts. Each athlete will receive a Panthers t-shirt to show support for the partnership.
FAU Women's Athletic Programs include: basketball, beach volleyball, golf, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, XC/track & field, volleyball and spirit. This marks the first professional sports team to sponsor an entire collegiate women's athletic program.
In addition, the Panthers have partnered with Florida-based Dreamfield as their official NIL marketplace for all 'FLA Athletes.' The Panthers first-ever 'FLA Athlete,' D'Eriq King, is a cofounder of Dreamfield Sports, an NIL-based platform focused on booking live events and creating marketing campaigns for collegiate athletes and brands.
"The Florida Panthers continue to stand out as community leaders by routinely breaking barriers," said Dreamfield Director of External Affairs Corey Staniscia. "Dreamfield has proven to be the premier enterprise smart contracting solution for NIL transactions at scale and we look forward to bringing this historic 'FLA Athlete' program to such a diverse group of female athletes at FAU."
The Florida Panthers recently became the first U.S. major professional sports team and first in the National Hockey League to establish a program that provides college athletes the opportunity to profit from their name, image and likeness.
